Meet the Secretariat


Zaina Hayek,

Secretary General

Zaina Hayek is a senior studying Political Science and Comparative Literature with a minor in French. This is Zaina’s third year on the HoosierMUN Secretariat. She served as Director-General for HoosierMUN I, and USG of Policy for HoosierMUN II. In her free time, Zaina enjoys playing tennis and hating on pickleball, reading, and biking! After graduation, Zaina hopes to live and work in France before attending law school back in the United States.

Vasco McALear,

Director General

Vasco is grew up between Indianapolis, the UK and France, and studies Econ and International Studies at IU with minors in Math and Chinese. Outside of classes he loves video games, sports and playing guitar. His interests include planes, trains, maps, credit cards and cheese. He's also a part of the Aviation Club and Aayat South Asian Acapella Club, and has aspirations to work in Aviation or Consulting!

Jonah
gotkin,

Chief of Staff

Jonah Gotkin is a junior here at IU, double majoring in Political Science and International Studies. Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, Jonah has several different career goals, such as working in investigative journalism, social movement organizing, or in the NGO sphere. When he’s not in MUN, you can find Jonah all over campus in organizations like Global Development Consulting, the Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism, and the Arabic Flagship Program.

Nilay Patel,

Treasurer

Nilay Patel is a Senior at Indiana University studying Law and Public Policy with a minor in Economics. He is originally from South Plainfield, NJ and grew up a massive fan of the New York Yankees. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, reading about world events, and having random debates with friends. Nilay hopes to enroll in law school upon his graduation from Indiana University and practice corporate law.

Mattingly richart,

USG of crisis

Mattingly is a senior from southern Illinois studying Policy Analysis here at IU. This is her second year on Secretariat for HoosierMUN, having served as the USG of Committees for HoosierMUN II! Outside of MUN, she enjoys reading, watching Survivor, and baking.


Anastasia yiannoutsos

USG of Ga and Specialized Committees

Born and raised in Zionsville, Indiana, Anastasia Yiannoutsos is a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in International Studies and French with minors in Law & Public Policy and Arabic. Before serving as the USG of GA/SPEC for HoosierMUN III, she served as the Vice Chair of the Havana Ooh-Na Narcotics: The Havana Conference, 1946 for HoosierMUN II and as a Vice Chair for the Bretton Woods Conference during IndianaMUNC XII. Outside of Model UN, she acts as a consultant for Global Development Consultants (GDC) and the Treasurer for the Pre-Law Association at IU. Upon graduating, she intends to spend a year abroad living and working in Morocco through the Arabic Flagship Program. 


Ben Baranko,

USG of Operations

Ben is a sophomore studying Sports Media and Political Science with a minor in Law and Public Policy. He is currently an intern for the office of the mayor here in Bloomington and spends his time working on local political campaigns. Outside of Model UN, Ben sits on the board of the College Democrats at IU. After graduation, he plan to attend law school and stay involved in politics with the goal of running for elected office.

Max Arterberry,

USG of Policy

Max Arterberry is a senior at IU studying International Studies, Religious Studies/Philosophy, with a minor in German. He is from right here in Bloomington, and thinks Bloomington is an absolutely amazing town (though he may be a bit biased). After graduation, he hopes to delay grad school by finding a job in international relations, either here or in Europe. In his free time, Max loves to waste time playing video games, hiking, running, and hanging out with friends. When he’s not with MUN, he’s spending time with the IU German club or the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics Society.

Manan Gupta,

Manan is a sophomore at Indiana University, majoring in Finance, he’s serving as HoosierMUN's Under-Secretary-General of Public Relations, having been with the club for two years. He's passionate about international diplomacy and, outside of MUN, spends his time on filmmaking and photography.
